| Summary: The long awaited X-ecuter 3 Xbox modchip may be available as soon as May, 2004. A representative from Team Xecuter made this statement in the Xecuter forums: "I hope to have it ready sometime in May - betas to be sent out within 2 weeks ( i hope) its getting there anyway" -- Personally, I don't recommend that anyone hold their breath. Like most Xecuter mods, there is a very good chance the Xecuter 3 will be delayed (again). Also, I am confident that the currently AVAILABLE XENIUM mod is just as good as anything Team Xecuter could build. |

Full News Story: The Xecuter line of Xbox modchips has been very good overall. Team Xecuter has really pioneered the Xbox modchip scene, and taken Xbox mods into the mainstream (so to speak). However, releases from the group are consistently riddled with delays (See earlier versions of Xecuter 2, and the original Xecuter 1, which both came out later than promised).
While I do expect the Xecuter 3 to be a great xbox modchip, I really don't think it's going to offer anything better than the Xenium. Also, with the Xenium, which is AVAILABLE NOW, customers can be certain that the modchip will perform as advertised and that there are no bugs (assuming you don't buy a clone), because the Xenium chips have been on the market for a couple of months now. Also, the OzXodus team releases products when the say they will - For example, when Xenium was announced, they set a release date and STUCK TO IT.
For this reason, I wouldn't wait around for an Xecuter 3. If you're thinking of buying a modchip, just go ahead and buy one. I recommend the Xenium above all others, but take your pick - all current mods basically do the same thing. Just make sure you purchase your modchip from a reliable retailer such as Divineo or Modchipsource -- The place you purchase your mod is just as important as the chip you choose -- because you have to make sure you actually receive your xbox modchip if you're ever going to really do any modding. |
